(2012) Silkwood blossom (a mimosa-like yellow flower scent) So to me, this boils down to a difference between Mulberry blossoms and Silkwood blossoms as far as the notes are concerned.
Of course, chemically speaking, who knows what they really did to satisfy IFRA?
I haven't had good experiences with Dior perfumes, but I've been looking for an opportunity to try this one.
I finally got the chance this morning in the airport.
Then I sprayed 2 sprays each on my hands and wrists, Left hand 2002, right hand 2012. A bit too camphor-ish with 2012 being the slightly less camphorish (and slightly more pleasant) of the two.
But I know with some perfumes, you have to let them settle before you can really judge (and having worn 2012 before, I know for a fact it gets muuuch better) so now I'm going to pause my review, wait for it to settle, and then come back to continue.
HOWEVER - I detect (and other reviewers have also noted) that there's a chai or spice mix sort of smell in here. The 2002 has a heavier mix of this and 2012 lighter, but they both have it.
in the made-in 2004 bottle, the batch code was stamped on the side rim of the bottom.
(Though I think adding 2014, which I've only nozzle sniffed - and liked, to my collection will be a waste right now.) Okay I can't stop sniffing my arms now.
I hope this comparison can help those of you who missed out on 20 and are trying to figure out which one to hunt down and buy.
The bottom did not have a sticker but instead had the Dior info stamped on in matte gold foil (unlike 20 version which both had stickers with batch code stamped in a designated spot on the sticker.) Also the 20 bottles did not have the gold rim around the neck whereas the 2012 did, which differentiates them as the oldest versions and the newer version (not counting the latest 2014 offering.) That's it for the outside bottle differences, onto the scent itself. 2012, the 2002 definitely smells sweeter and my pick for favorite.
However beyond the extra sweetness, these scents feel 95% the same.
